11 Steps On Formatting A Blog Post Correctly

Write An Eye-Catching Headline:

Writing an eye-catching headline is the first step to improve your blog post. What do I mean by this? It would be best to write a headline that makes your audience want to click on it and read it.

How can you do this? People mostly click on article headlines that include words like How to, What is, Step By Step Guide because these headlines show them what kind of information the blog post contains.

Just try to use these types of words to write a killer headline. By doing this, you also get to add your keyword easily.

So that is the first way to write an eye-catching headline, but what about when your post is not a tutorial post. For these types of posts, add long-tail keywords, and you are good to go.

Make Headings And Subheadings:

Heading and subheadings are a significant part of a well-formatted blog post. Wall posts are a big no from Google and visitors. What are wall posts? In short, wall posts are posts without headings and subheadings. They are just a bunch of words with no sequence.

Wall texts make the post look highly unprofessional and unattractive. People hardly read an article without headings and subheadings.

While writing a post without using headings and subheadings, it is hard to say you will describe something step by step without losing track.
Heading and subheadings make your post attractive, engaged, easy to read, full of insights, and adding these two will help you turn the post longer.

Images:

I think no post is complete without adding images. Images are what make your blog post appealing to visitors. I have seen some bloggers publishing posts without using pictures, and those posts seem dull.

Many websites have copyright-free images which you can use and edit freely, such as Unsplash (my fav), Freestocks.org, My Stocks, and much more.

Another way to make your post outstanding is to create custom images. Your custom doesn’t have to be funny like memes, and you can also create colorful images with blog texts and icons.

Keep Sentences Short:

Okay, is there any nice way to say that your blog post is hella boring if your sentences are too long? I don’t think so. Well, either way, I have to tell blog sentences to need to be short and straightforward.

Visitors like sentences that are easy to comprehend, so there is no point in writing long sentences and complex words.

While writing short sentences, don’t forget to keep your posts in detail and give insights.

Make Paragraphs:

Making Paragraphs will help you format your blog post correctly. Paragraphs can turn a small written post with less information into a well-written post with full details and insight (even though it is not a lengthy post).

Not making paragraphs can make your post look long and unprofessional no matter how well-written or informative it is; it will also look like you ignored focusing on writing skills at all, and you just wanted to get rid of the post.

Before following this, why don’t you go and see it yourself? Open two different posts, one wall-post and the other with heading and paragraphs, and you will see the difference.

Use A Clear Font:

This is something many bloggers choose to ignore but blog post font color and size matter a lot. Your blog post font should not just match with your theme or picture, but it should also be clear.

You ever landed on a blog page with light color and small fonts? If yes, you probably know posts with fancy, elegant fonts, and light colors are hard to read, especially on mobile.

And since it’s 2021, people prefer to use mobile than desktop, but It doesn’t mean you can’t use fancy fonts; you can use them for titles or custom pictures.

Create A Table Of Content:

This is something I never mentioned before on my blog table of content. A table of content makes your post look professional, but it is not only added to format a blog post correctly, but it also helps with Google SEO.

How? For example, if someone searches for a question related to your topic and you created a table of content in your post, it will help Google notice that you covered the answer inside your blog post.

Also, there is a disadvantage of creating a table of content well sometimes; a visitor will directly click on the link inside the table instead of reading the whole post.

Four Other Things You Can Do To Make Your Blog Post Outstanding

Bold The Important Texts:

Maybe bolding the important texts doesn’t seem much, but honestly, it plays an important part. By bolding the text, it will instantly help the visitor recognize that this text contains valuable information which should not be missed.

Create Bulleted List:

Bulleted lists are primarily created in a blog post to draw the audience’s attention to important information. Also, Creating a bulleted list will help you break down the post and make it easy for your audience to understand the topic.

Make Your Posts Interesting Using Color Boxes:

Your blog post doesn’t need to include words only. There are many ways to make your post look interesting and attractive such as creating custom images and coloring the heading boxes.

Keep The Words Simple:

There is no point in writing a blog post with complex vocabulary. I know it makes you look smart and all but you need to remember you are writing the post to help others understand a topic, so the more easy vocabulary, the better.

The point is the blog post should be simple enough for anyone to read from around the world.
